The Rabbit Council | Stars

Hailing from the western Piedmont region of North Carolina, The Rabbit Council is the musical project of Lee Baber—a songwriter who arrived late to the craft but brings a lifetime of perspective, emotion, and quiet observation. What started as a personal outlet quickly evolved into a genre-blending sound rooted in storytelling, memory, and the natural world.

Drawing from folk, rock, country, and pop, Baber’s music feels both familiar and original—earthy in tone yet imaginative in spirit. There’s a calm urgency in his songs, the kind that comes from someone who has taken time to listen to the silence between moments.

Released in May 2025 on CLB Records, The Rabbit Council is a seven-track debut that explores the landscapes of both place and emotion. These songs speak to the seasons of a life—grief and growth, wonder and weariness, courage and surrender. The opening track and lead single, “Stars,” shines with its gentle folk-rock pulse and reflective lyricism, offering a soft but stirring entry into Baber’s world.

Other highlights include “Water In My Leaves,” a track that ripples with emotional clarity, and “Cold Flame,” a layered reflection on love, distance, and inner reckoning. From the hopeful strain of “The Courage Song” to the intimate farewell of “Song for Nez,” Baber builds a sonic atmosphere that feels as personal as a journal and as wide open as a Carolina sky.

Tracklist:

  1. Stars – 2:30
  2. Water In My Leaves – 3:30

  4. Gazing – 3:15
  5. Cold Flame – 3:32
  6. The Courage Song – 2:39
  7. Song for Nez – 2:58

This debut is not just a collection of songs—it’s a quiet, thoughtful offering from an artist who has taken the long way ’round to finding his voice, and now that he has, he sings with depth, grace, and honesty.
